e-Kingfisher selects Netstore to provide software as a service for UK operations
Netstore, Europe's leading application service provider, today announced that e-Kingfisher has opted for all four of its ASP services as part of e-Kingfishers drive to create a 'severless' office. e-Kingfisher - the e-trading arm of UK retailer Kingfisher - has chosen Netstore to provide Internet-based mail and backup to all of its UK employees.
Created in July 2001 to consolidate Kingfisher's online sales, e-Kingfisher wanted to create a state-of-the-art office without investing heavily in server technology for its back office functions. By turning to Netstore for its On-line Backup and Exchange 2000 products, e-Kingfisher found a cost-effective and cutting-edge solution for the provision of ASP-based groupware and PC backup. The deal also involves Netstore supplying products to enable remote and wireless access to both services in the form of iRoam and MAX2000.
"Since the creation of e-Kingfisher, we have always operated a 'serverless' office environment" said Mark Harrison, Head of Systems, e-Kingfisher. "The challenge for us was to provide our employees with advanced technology solutions without having to invest heavily in hardware. We turned to Netstore as one supplier to provide both groupware and PC backup with remote and wireless access facilities. We needed someone who offered 100% guaranteed service delivery and a pricing model that was not based on volume. Netstore was able to offer all of this under one roof and was an obvious choice for e-Kingfisher."
Kevin Nairne, e-Kingfisher Account Manager, Netstore commented that, "e-Kingfisher's adoption of all of Netstore's services is proof of the way companies are increasingly realising the value of software delivered as a service. This type of deal reinforces the value of the ASP model in the current business climate which is focussed on both cost and the need for state-of-the-art technology."
The deal for 200 seats of Exchange 2000, On-line Backup, iRoam and MAX2000 is for 12 months across all products.
