Ex-Disney Producer To Work On New UK Animated TV Series

West Midlands, November 27th: The Galleon Group plc (Galleon or the Group), a cross-media company with interests in media production, database marketing, software publishing, public relations, trade journal production and graphic design, today announces that ex-Disney Producer Chris Henderson has joined the group as a consultant for its animation project, Astro Knights. Henderson, who has extensive experience in producing animated features, including a number of Disney projects, will work alongside the animation team at Synthetic Dimensions, Galleon’s animation and video game subsidiary.

“Chris has a very impressive CV and his experience in producing successful animated TV series will be of immense benefit to the company,” explains Jim Driscoll MBE, Chairman of the Galleon Group. “Astro Knights is an exciting project and we have an exceptionally skilled team at Synthetic Dimensions. With Chris on board, we now have all the talent we need to take Astro Knights into full production.”

Before joining Galleon, Henderson worked as a Producer for animation giant Disney. His projects included all 65-half hour episodes of “One Hundred And One Dalmatians”, 65 episodes of “Hercules”, the home video production of “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” and the feature film “Return To Neverland” (the upcoming sequel to Peter Pan). Prior to Disney, Henderson ran a small production and development company called Hamlet.

“Synthetic Dimensions has a reputation for innovation, quality and excitement,” adds Kevin Bulmer, Founder and Director of New Technologies at Synthetic Dimensions. “In Astro Knights we have a property that has already captured the imagination of broadcasters, merchandise and licensing companies worldwide. Chris’ experience in overseeing large scale animation projects will, I’m sure, see Astro Knights become an internationally successful television series.”

Henderson joins the project at an exciting time. The Synthetic team has been working with an animation studio in India to produce footage for the series. Initial reports on the animation are favourable and full-scale production of the series is anticipated early in the New Year. The Group is also looking at setting up a small studio in Los Angeles, to further develop animation projects in 3D, 2D and new technologies including Flash (Internet software). This would be headed up by Henderson.

“I am really looking forward to working with Jim, Kevin and the rest of the Synthetic Dimensions’ team,” says Henderson. “Astro Knights is a really cool concept. The characters are strong, the initial premise is exciting and there’s a lot of fun to be had with developing the plot and the characters and bringing it all to life.! There’s a buzz about 3D world-wide thanks to films like Shrek and I know several studio executives who are anxious to see Astro Knights.”

“Under a co-production agreement for the Astro Knights series signed with CinéGroupe du Canada, Chris will act as liaison between Canada, India and the UK,” concludes Driscoll. “This announcement comes on the back of The Group about to complete a reverse take-over into an AIM-listed shell and sees the Group moving into the New Year in a very strong position.”

Chris Henderson will be in the UK from Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th of November. If you would like an interview with Chris (phone, e-mail or face to face) then please contact Paul Wooding at RedEye PR, details at the end of this release.
