KaVaDo, the company whose patented technology is the first to provide enterprise Web applications with future-proof protection against multiple internal and external threats, today reveals the first phase of a push into Europe.
Backed by a consortium of investors including 3i and Bank of America Ventures, KaVaDo has appointed Terry Schoen as European sales director. He is tasked with rapidly building regional business into a major proportion of global sales, recruiting and leading a team from the newly-opened regional headquarters in London and selling through systems integrators, software vendors and security specialists.
Schoen (44), who has a 12-year track record in enterprise security and software having held senior posts at Legent, Entrust Technologies and IONA, says Web applications are the new IT security battleground as companies open up to suppliers, partners and customers over the Internet.
"Until now the focus has been on authentication and privacy, but those technologies on their own have proved to be an inadequate defence against worms and other forms of application-level attack. We're the first to show how applications and their associated data can be protected against malicious or accidental damage with a scalable, fundamentally future-proof technology."
Available as software or a network appliance, KaVaDo’s flagship product InterDo complements traditional security measures such as firewalls, VPNs and intrusion detection systems that protect the network while leaving applications susceptible to attack.
Developed at the company's research facility in Tel Aviv, InterDo leapfrogs first-generation application security by using Protected Path(tm), a technology which secures each application as an individual entity by working at the business logic level.
InterDo intercepts incoming and outgoing traffic of applications visible on the Internet, validating and securing requests before they pass through to back-end infrastructure. Throughput up to four times more than first generation solutions means legitimate activity is virtually unimpeded.
Easy to implement and compliant with the latest Web standards and protocols, InterDo does not require modifications to Web servers or the applications themselves. InterDo can protect an unlimited number of custom or third-party applications installed on single, distributed, shared or hosted servers. An Enterprise Management Console puts graphically rich, real-time network and security-activity monitoring at the fingertips of IT managers, allowing the creation of application-specific activity logs that can be exported to third-party reporting tools and monitoring servers.
With its European centre in London, corporate headquarters in New York, and research and development facilities in Tel Aviv, KaVaDo (http://www.kavado.com)
also has offices in Japan and across North America.
