SmartZone Technology Offers Internet and Offline Kiosk Technology
For Shopping Centres

Retail Business Solutions, one of the UK’s leading providers of total retail solutions, today announced that it has forged an alliance with Foxmark, a division of More Group Limited, to provide shopping centres with the latest in interactive kiosk technology. Using RBS’s SmartZone virtual shopping solution and the latest designs in kiosk hardware from Ascom, Foxmark is able to deliver dynamic and compelling solutions to attract, engage and enhance the customers shopping experience in shopping centres throughout the UK.

Recently deployed in the Pallasades Shopping Centre in Birmingham, and with other projects currently underway, the partnership has been well received by the industry. The kiosks are linked to large plasma screens, and strategically placed throughout the centre to attract the highest volume of shoppers. Much more than pure information points, the new generation of kiosks provides retailers with an additional customer touch-point that includes virtual shopping malls, product catalogues, promotions and general information.

Managing Director at RBS, Richard Goodall comments, “Our joint solution enables shopping centres to use the kiosk as a fully interactive tool for customer service, advertising and promotional campaigns. This in turn gives shopping centre owners, who operate in an increasingly competitive market, a considerable “value add” to pass on to existing and prospective retail tenants.”

“Kiosks have been traditionally used as a passive method of customer communication in the shopping centre, often hidden out of the direct view of the public and offering limited information in an often difficult to navigate format.

The advances in software applications such as SmartZone, new designs in hardware, and consumer acceptance of this technology means that kiosks will soon become an integral part of the retail experience. In partnership, Foxmark and RBS will play a vital role to facilitate the growth of the market and continual development of the technology,” says Director of Foxmark, Tim Godwin.

About SmartZone

SmartZone from Retail Business Solutions allows a retailer to build, deploy and manage a virtual catalogue or shop and take it to the consumer via all available electronic and physical means. One product catalogue can be delivered over the Internet, multimedia kiosks, touchscreen EPoS, mobile devices and WAP phones, and interactive TV. SmartZone offers retailers and other content providers the full power of multimedia - audio and video clips, 3-D images and other powerful virtual reality features.

SmartZone is a complete eCommerce package, offering all the components of the eCommerce engine. It allows graphics and text to be ‘dropped in’ to the application framework – so that store design and creation can be undertaken without programming input. SmartZone has integral support for EPoS and kiosks to enable the convergence of the traditional retail experience with eCommerce.
