SLOUGH November 28th 2001 — Last night Holiday Autos, the world’s largest leisure car rental broker, swept the
board at the Computer Weekly E-Business Excellence Awards 2001 held in London. Winners of their category - the
best example of e-business in an SME - they then went on to collect the UK E-Business Gold Award. This award
was made to the entry judged to be the best overall example of e-business from the 11 award category winners
which included Sainsbury's, Virgin Wine Online, First Choice and Nationwide Building Society.

The Holiday Autos website for car rental bookings first hit the airwaves in December 1999, and was initially
developed by Progress Software, using Progress OpenEdge E-Business tools and the Progress database. The
company had very clear objectives for technology to enable more online business with partners and
intermediaries in order to significantly increase profitability.

Today the web generates multi-million pound revenues, representing up to 25% of overall daily bookings and the
system is also available through interactive TV. The success and speed of implementation of the Progress
solution led to the recent decision to replace a seriously delayed Oracle-based tele-sales central reservation
system with Progress by further developing the existing web system with extra back office functions and
greater supplier integration.
