Sony’s Aibo Dog Multi-Language Testing Conducted At TesCom Labs Thursday 6 December 2001 PDF Print TesCom Launches Upgraded Testing Laboratory at New Premises Sony’s voice-activated toy robot dog, Aibo, was one of the first projects at TesCom’s new test laboratory site following a move to larger premises. TesCom conducted testing on Sony’s software that controls the toy for the UK, French and German markets, using the laboratory’s extensive suite of test configurations. TesCom delivers independent, tailored software testing and quality improvement services. Localisation testing is a speciality at TesCom’s laboratory that supports testing in multiple languages including European and Asian languages. TesCom’s labs are designed for compatibility testing and equipped with an advanced range of testing tools and platform environments, with specific provision for internet and new media requirements. The broad range of platforms, browsers and operating systems is designed to be representative of real world variations including common minimum specifications. “The proliferation of applications for newer media such as interactive TV, WAP mobile devices and PDAs means that companies need to test their online products in a wider range of technical environments. And this puts greater pressure on what are already tight time constraints. Our new test labs provide both the resources and the expertise to ensure that quality is not sacrificed in these demanding scenarios,” commented TesCom’s chief technology officer, Lee Farman. TesCom’s testing laboratory services have been delivering application testing on clean, controlled environments for over five years for such clients as Sony, MSN, BBC, helping to ensure the consistency, performance and quality of applications in the end-user environment. To meet growing demand for independent, thorough testing, TesCom moved to larger premises to accommodate a larger, state-of-the-art lab. Platforms at the lab include PC, Mac and Unix platforms, as well as the ability to handle WAP, interactive digital TV and micro-browsers. Pre-configured test tools from major automation and load testing specialists add to the size and scope of performance tests and fast track testing services. - ends - About TesCom Ltd TesCom mitigates business risk and reduces time to market by delivering independent, tailored software testing and quality improvement services.
