Award-Winning SonicMQ Messaging Platform and Oracle9i Application Server provide a solid foundation for web
SLOUGH — 6th December 2001 — Progress Software subsidiary Sonic Software today announced that Oracle9i
Application Server (Oracle9iAS) is a certified and supported platform for SonicMQ®. This will allow customers
to seamlessly integrate SonicMQ, the award-winning enterprise messaging platform, with Oracle9iAS to build
highly-reliable applications and Web services for the extended enterprise.
Sonic Software designs and develops the Sonic family of products in the USA. In the UK and the rest of Europe,
they are distributed by the Progress Company.
Thomas Kurian, vice president of development for Oracle9i Application Server at Oracle Corporation said:
“Integration with SonicMQ provides developers with a standards-based, scalable and reliable infrastructure to
develop, deploy and link distributed applications and Web services.”
The choice in messaging infrastructure is more strategic now than ever before. According to Gartner, Inc.,
future support of enterprise-class applications (SCM, CRM, and e-business) based on Web services, will depend
primarily on the enrichment of the underlying middleware and the middleware standards(1). By deploying a solid
messaging infrastructure such as SonicMQ, enterprises can prepare their IT organisations for technology
changes and help ‘future-proof’ their existing infrastructure.
“Oracle has worked closely with us to help ensure seamless integration between SonicMQ and Oracle9iAS,”said
Danny Goodall, Progress business unit manager for Sonic products in EMEA “Oracle9I Application Server’s
flexible configuration combined with Sonic’s support of the Oracle database as a persistent storage mechanism,
makes SonicMQ a natural fit for distributed Oracle platform deployments.”
SonicMQ provides a highly scalable, standards-based Internet middleware for guaranteed and secure delivery of
business-critical data across the extended enterprise. SonicMQ is the first JMS technology product certified
Java™ 2, Enterprise Edition (J2EE™) compatible. It includes an XAResource API to guarantee the end-to-end
transactional integrity of messages. Additionally, SonicMQ’s patent-pending Dynamic Routing Architecture™
(DRA) ensures guaranteed message delivery, and unparalleled performance and scalability for enterprise-class
