Company Launches Content and Applications Partner Program
With Flagship Partner
December 11, 2001 – BroadJump, the broadband software leader, today announced it has partnered with NCsoft™, the world’s largest independent online game company, to help grow the subscriber base to the global smash, Lineage, which already boasts four million players, through an enhanced gaming experience. In addition, BroadJump announced the formalisation of its Content and Applications Partner Program, a key component of the BroadJump Partner Network.
Broadband service providers can leverage the BroadJump® ChannelDirect capability to offer subscribers the option to purchase NCsoft’s Lineage: The Blood Pledge™ at the point of high-speed installation. By leveraging the Virtual Truck® family of products, ChannelDirect transforms typical broadband touch points, such as qualification and installation, into marketing channels – enabling service providers to generate incremental revenue and increase profitability.
“As part of our ongoing broadband strategy, NCsoft chose BroadJump to quickly pump up Lineage’s worldwide subscriber base,” said Richard Garriott, the legendary game designer behind the massively successful Ultima franchise and now an executive producer at NCsoft’s Austin, Texas office. “This partnership will enable us to more effectively market and deliver Lineage – with help from the world’s biggest and best broadband service providers – to the ever growing number of online gaming fans.”
With more than four million subscribers and 330 thousand concurrent users, NCsoft’s Lineage is the largest online game in the world. As a subscription-based online game, Lineage will rely, in part, on gamers downloading its client and regular updates from the Internet. Broadband is an ideal distribution vehicle for Lineage because its speed and performance allows for a quick download process and an enhanced gaming experience.
BroadJump Content and Applications Partner Program
NCsoft is the newest member of BroadJump’s Content and Applications Partner Program – a component of the BroadJump Partner Network. The program was created to enable service providers to increase the distribution and adoption of revenue-generating services, such as gaming, across their subscriber base. BroadJump is partnering with best-of-breed content and application vendors, such as NCsoft, allowing service providers to offer and deliver the most compelling goods and services.
“Application partners such as NCsoft have created a compelling set of real, revenue-generating services that can be deployed today,” said Kip McClanahan, president and CEO of BroadJump. “By delivering the goods and services subscribers want most – such as NCsoft’s game Lineage – service providers can speed time to profitability using the same BroadJump infrastructure that has been saving them money for years.”
These partnerships deliver turn-key offers that decrease service providers time-to-market with the most desired goods and services while generating incremental revenue from new and existing subscribers. BroadJump’s recently announced ChannelDirect capability enables service providers to market and sell revenue-generating goods and services, such as NCsoft’s Lineage, over the broadband connection.
BroadJump’s Partner Network includes: content and applications partners NCsoft, Incanta, McAfee.com and SkyDesk; CPE partners Ericsson, Motorola, Terayon, Thomson Consumer Electronics and Toshiba; and strategic alliance partners Nortel Networks, Portal, Telcordia, Cadant and Core Networks.
Headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, NCsoft is the world’s largest independent online game company. Established in 1997 as a systems integration company, NCsoft has leaped to become Korea’s and the world’s leading online game software company. In Korea, its blockbuster hit game Lineage: The Blood Pledge commands a 47% market share and attracts the greatest number of concurrent users in the world. NCsoft is a public company and is traded on the KOSDAQ Korean stock exchange.
