Ensuring rapid return on investment for enterprises with business critical websites, Tonic Software - a leading provider of innovative web applications management software - today announced the availability of Tonic 2.0. Designed for Blue Chip companies relying heavily on their web sites to conduct business, Tonic 2.0 includes enhancements to ensure business continuity and produce the highest quality user experience for web-based applications and web-enabled infrastructures.

“Tonic version 2.0 brings sophisticated testing, monitoring and automated management capabilities together, thereby allowing businesses to have better control over their online business assets”, said analyst Richard L. Ptak, Senior Vice President, Hurwitz Group, Inc.

Utilising a true Internet architecture, Tonic 2.0 is the only web application management software solution to take an “outside-in” approach to managing all components across complex web-enabled applications. A single comprehensive product, Tonic measures and monitors performance, verifies content and functional integrity, performs load testing and detects and corrects problems before users see them and abandon the site for that of a competitor. Tonic supports the entire web application development lifecycle from development and testing, through deployment, monitoring and management. As a true differentiator, Tonic 2.0 also performs root cause analysis and takes automated corrective action to detect, diagnose and resolve problems before online customers experience them.

Tonic handles complex, personalised dynamic content in a non-intrusive manner without using agents and provides an extensible, standards-based architecture designed to complement existing IT investments.

By embracing the latest Internet architectures, including XML and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), Tonic 2.0 assures smooth integration with third-party and in-house enterprise systems management (ESM) and monitoring products, enabling a faster return on investment.

“As companies increase their dependence on e-business, they need a reliable way to ensure business continuity. Today’s enterprises cannot afford a web site that delivers inaccurate information, is too slow or fails completely. The damage can range from costly losses in revenue to disappointed customers and a damaged reputation, to increased liability”, said Avery More, interim CEO, Tonic Software. “Addressing problems from the user’s perspective and integrating a company’s business processes and best practices, Tonic 2.0 automatically diagnoses and corrects problems before online customers experience them. It gives enterprises the ability to adapt quickly to dynamic and increasingly complex e-business application environments.”

New to Tonic 2.0 is the Tonic Automation EngineTM, which applies a company’s best practices and business policies to perform root cause analysis and take automated corrective action. Charles Stanley - one of the UK’s largest stockbrokers - is among the first to utilise the Tonic Automation EngineTM and is now able to ensure business continuity through its multiple, high volume managed equity sites. Quickly implemented, Tonic improved the delivery of accurate stock quotes for real-time transactions, reducing Charles Stanley’s operating costs by automating hours of manual processes performed by IT staff per month.

Enhancements to Tonic’s reporting features include web access to reports through the Tonic Reporting Portal, the ability to generate performance and trend reports of a URL from stand-alone databases, the specification of reporting time intervals down to the minute and automatic report generation through flexible scheduling.

Other Tonic 2.0 additions are increased scalability; support for standard authentication models to increase security; the utilisation of JavaScript technology to enhance usability and lower the effort of creating complex user transactions; and the addition of a command line interface to provide for external product extensions, all of which reduce training costs and improve ROI.

“After extensive testing, we chose Tonic to be a key part of our end-to-end managed services offering for its comprehensive eCommerce management abilities,” said Troy Landry, Vice President of product development, MightyView - a leading enterprise managed services provider whose customers include Breakaway Solutions, eSylvan, Interliant and OAO Corporation. “Tonic's technology, when added to our real-time root cause technologies, is a winning combination for our customers."
