Unipower Solutions will be appearing on two of the flagship solution-islands at Wincor World 2002, the premier exhibition from Wincor-Nixdorf, IT solutions and services provider to the retail and banking sectors.
On the CRM island, Unipower will illustrate how its technology can be used for Loyalty-Based Shopping (LBS), at home on a PC, on the move via a mobile telephone and PDA and in-store by way of kiosks and personal shopping devices.
From a PC at home shoppers can create shopping lists including personal promotions, suggested recipes and recommendations received from their chosen retailer via the Internet. The order can then be placed over the Internet or the list taken to the store as a print out.
While on the move, Unipower’s software solutions enable shoppers to be updated via SMS messages of special offers on their favourite items or even receive a recommended shopping list of their usual purchases on a PDA.
Meanwhile, once in-store the shopper can use Unipower solutions to retrieve a pre-prepared shopping list from a kiosk. Or a suggested list compiled using loyalty data, then add items scanned in the shopper’s own kitchen or perhaps special offer vouchers received through the post or from magazines, using a personal handheld scanner. The list can be printed out by aisle at the Kiosk to save time by helping to plan the shopper’s route around the store.
The most futuristic piece of technology on show at Wincor World will be Unipower’s Personal Shopping Assistant (PSA). This is a wireless touch screen tablet that a customer picks up and places on their trolley when they enter the store. When activated, an infrared beacon system tracks the shopper and the screen shows promotional items, coupons, and specials relevant to them, within that aisle. The device guides the shopper through store aisles based on their shopping list and favourites or loyalty data.
In addition to displaying favourites and personalised coupons, specials, and promotions on-screen, the Personal Shopping Assistant also offers deli and other special items ordering directly from the device. It can also provide reminders for infrequently purchased items and complementary items to accompany customer purchases, and can assist with recipe and menu planning. Optionally, the device can be used to self-scan items for easy checkout, or to track current total balance.
Finally, on the CRM island retailers will be able to see a working demonstration of the head office view of LBS from Unipower. The PSA tracks a shopper’s route in-store, allowing retailers to make best use of space and promotional displays. Unipower’s rules based promotional system also allows retailers to prepare personalised promotions for transmission over the web and SMS messaging or even to the PSA when the shopper is actually on a shopping trip. They will even see how to make call centres more productive by combining mult-channel technologies.
On the multi-channel island, Unipower will be presenting the latest version of its Transactional Catalogue, a hybrid of the transactional web site and paper catalogue. Delivered on CD, Transactional Catalogue combines the best features and overcomes the major weeknesses, of paper catalogues and the Internet. It provides retailers with an additional channel that allows consumers to shop in a relaxed environment with enhanced graphics, video and interactive images, only connecting to the Internet to receive updates and place an order.
Existing clients of Transactional Catalogue have found that when shopping off-line consumers increase purchases by up to 20%.
Wincor World 2002 will be dominated by the forward-looking themes of multi-channel retailing and banking, IT enterprise management and customer relationship management.
