Global banking software company Eontec announces the opening of new Asia Pacific HQ with David Jones as managing director
Dublin, 15 January 2002 – Eontec, the leading provider of Enterprise JavaBeans™ (EJB™)–based multi-channel banking software, today announces the opening of a new office in Tokyo, Japan, that will serve as the foundation for the company’s expansion across Asia Pacific. David Jones has been appointed managing director and will be responsible for building awareness and driving Eontec’s development programme at a strategic level. As headquarters for the region, the new office will support the growing demand from retail financial services institutions for open, scalable technology to revolutionise their customer service systems.
Jones will also provide hands-on support, heading up the organisation’s subsidiary office in Singapore and leading sales, marketing and partner activity on the ground throughout Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore (South Asia) and Greater China. As one of the largest financial services markets in the world, Japan will be a key focus for business development over the coming years.

Jones has extensive experience in bringing financial technology products to the Japan, Australian and Asia Pacific markets. Following a degree in Computer Applications at Dublin City University, Jones moved to Japan in 1986 to develop financial software and two years later joined Misys.
Having successfully brought several Misys products to Japan, he became managing director for SunGard Capital Markets and introduced the Panorama and Infinity products to both the Japanese and Korean markets. Prior to joining Eontec, Jones headed up the Asia Pacific division of Cognotec, an FX automation company, expanding operations into over five countries throughout the region.
