Leeds, England - PMG [http://www.pm-group.co.uk], the fast-emerging leader in programme management software, has released a version of its Hydra3 system with integration to Microsoft Outlook. The new software will allow project team members to use Outlook for day-to-day interaction with Hydra3 Personal, to check tasks, schedules and commitments agreed with project and department managers.

The new Outlook-integrated version broadens the appeal of Hydra3, says PMG, allowing team members to use their familiar work environment while participating in project management tasks. In addition, the integration means users will no longer need to maintain two diaries or task lists.

Hydra3 is PMG’s latest version of their programme management tool, which was released last month. The system is designed to harness a company’s scarce resources around the world and use them most effectively. Hydra3 challenges traditional project management tools that are task-centric: PMG’s solution is resource-centric, which overcomes the shortcomings of software such as MS-Project, says the developer.

The integration with Outlook, available immediately, publishes a team member’s agreed tasks (both project and non-project) into the Outlook Task List and Calendar. The user can then view and update the Hydra information within Outlook, alongside their other work. Full support for Outlook’s Journal facility is provided, offering users a graphical timeline representation of their schedule.

The Program Management Group (PMG), based in Yorkshire's "Silicon Dale" designs, develops and markets programme management software and services. Founded as Hydra Development Corporation in 1996, the fast-growing company spent over four years developing and refining its revolutionary programme management product, and has in less than 3 years established an international customer base of 32 global organisations, with over 5,000 users.

PMG’s latest Hydra3 product, introduced in October 2001, is a complete programme management suite, offering resource-centric, multi-project, multi-site planning capabilities. Its patent, intelligent, pre-emptive resource scheduling allows organisations to successfully plan and implement multiple simultaneous projects without the limitations of discrete task-centric project management tools.
