Among The Study's Conclusions: 30% Of UK Digital TV Subscribers Would Pay2.5 Pounds Or More Per Month For Messaging Applications, Such As Voicemail, SMS, Email And Unified Messaging Over Interactive TV
Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. The research revealed a strong interest among digital TV subscribers to send and receive messages such as voicemail, short messages (SMS), email and instant messaging on their TV sets.
Conducted by Continental Research, a UK-based research company specializing in research for major digital TV and satellite operators, the findings indicate a large potential for TVUM (unified messaging over TV). Four Hundred households were included in the study, among whom 17% are currently using email over TV, and more than 30% questioned would want voicemail over TV, and would pay on average 11p per message for such a service. In addition, 24% percent see real value in accessing text messages (SMS) over TV, and would be willing to pay on average 12p per SMS message. In addition, 35% of the participants expressed interest in using "TV Yellow Pages and more than 30% were interested in a package that includes email, voicemail, SMS Yellow Pages and address book access over TV, and would pay 2.5 pounds or more per month for such a unified messaging service as a TV package."
