- Comverse Expands Market Opportunity For Prepaid Roaming -
Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc, and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services, has announced the introduction of its Intelligent Network (IN)-based prepaid solution that uses Customised Application of Mobile Enhanced Logic (CAMEL) Phase 2 Intelligent Network protocols, to provide increased capacity and international prepaid roaming.
This solution enables GSM carriers to provide international prepaid roaming services to subscribers that roam on any GSM network that also supports CAMEL Phase 2. Additionally, it helps carriers to cost-effectively manage network resources as their customer base expands, with fewer ports required and the ability to process more calls.
"Comverse's CAMEL Phase 2 IN-based prepaid solution enables carriers to provide additional value added services such as roaming to their prepaid subscribers", said Zeev Bregman, Chief Executive Officer of Comverse. "With this solution, carriers can provide their customers with expanded features while leveraging infrastructure investment."
Comverse's IN-based prepaid solution provides carriers with advanced service delivery based on an open system using CAMEL Phase 2 and International Telecommunications Union (ITU) architecture. CAMEL is an ETSI standard for GSM networks that enhances the provision of Intelligent Network services.
Comverse has deployed its prepaid systems, supporting 25 languages, in more than 55 carrier networks and 80 sites in 45 countries. For service providers who want to extend prepaid functionality to other enhanced services in the drive to obtain incremental revenue, Comverse's prepaid solution also supports prepayment and real-time billing of new services, including prepaid SMS and data services.
