e-Commerce sites have reported record-breaking sales during December according to e-InBusiness, online store developer.

e-InBusiness today announced that its online clients reported hugely successful seasonal sales in
December 2001, with 100% of the sites taking significantly more orders than at the same time last year. Internet wine company ( increased online orders ten fold. Buyagift (, a specialist gift experience site, saw a 400% rise in sales. Ted Baker (, a leading designer fashion site, reported strong sales during the Christmas season and Heal’s (, which had increased its online catalogue of contemporary home accessories from 90 to 500 during 2001, also enjoyed a very significant growth in orders. PRCdirect (, a new online division of PRC Hi-fi and Video, has seen an overwhelming response up to and during the Christmas period, which has continued well into January.

Last Christmas we had a far greater proportion of people browsing the site to locate the gift they wanted, but then calling us to place the order via telephone.
