Enhancements to J.D. Edwards EAM Translate to Direct Increase in Performance
J.D. Edwards, a leading provider of agile, collaborative solutions for the connected economy, today announced the general availability of J.D. Edwards Enterprise Asset Management, developed to assist asset-intensive industries in maximising the performance of and returns on their plant and equipment. While this is the first time EAM is being offered as a stand-alone product, J.D. Edwards has delivered maintenance management functionality for more than 10 years to several hundred clients. This release offers tight ERP integration with state-of-the-art asset utilisation functionality, and also brings forward significant enhancements.
Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) technology allows enterprises to maximise asset productivity. For example, for asset-intensive enterprises, unplanned equipment downtime translates to an unrecoverable loss of revenue. EAM can synchronise operations requirements with maintenance to avoid unplanned shutdowns, select the appropriate technicians for the work, reduce the amount of repairs, and determine when maintenance should be scheduled to minimise interference with production schedules and project deadlines, or when an ageing machine should be repaired or replaced.

J.D. Edwards EAM extends Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) technology by integrating asset utilisation technology with enterprise resource planning systems. This allows companies to not only manage assets, but to relate them to the enterprise. Through EAM, enterprises have real-time visibility of assets throughout the entire enterprise, linking utilisation and operational information about these assets with their book value, depreciation, and revenue and cost streams. This integration to other enterprise applications (including Workforce Management and Capital Project Management) provides further operational efficiency, synchronising operational needs with maintenance and enhancing utilisation as well.

* Failure Analysis – Identifies the cause of failures, tracks them to their causal source and helps prevent pending failures before an unplanned shutdown occurs;
* Intelligent Graphics Solution (IGS) – J.D. Edwards’ solution also comes pre-integrated with IGS, which provides visual representation of assets or property, making the system easy for employees to learn and use.
