Technology industry veteran to spearhead Eontec’s Canadian operations

Dublin, 11 February 2002 – Eontec, the leading provider of Enterprise JavaBeans™ (EJB™)–based multi-channel banking software, today announced the appointment of Andy Staniewski as senior vice president of Eontec’s Canadian operations in Toronto. This new position reinforces Eontec’s commitment to provide senior customer management and support to its growing base of Canadian financial institutions including Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC).

With nearly two decades of experience in all facets of executive management including overseeing large-scale application development accounts in North America and the UK, Staniewski will focus on further establishing Eontec as the leading international Java-based financial technology solution provider. He will work closely with the sales, R&D, customer support, and consulting groups within Eontec Canada to develop and cultivate new and existing relationships with tier one financial institutions in the region.

“As Eontec continues to gain market share in North America, it is imperative that we invest in an infrastructure of top-level personnel necessary to support our growing client base,” said Colin Piper, president of North American operations at Eontec. “Andy is uniquely qualified to spearhead our operations in Toronto. His experience with Fortune 500 companies will prove invaluable as our worldwide client list continues to develop.”

Staniewski comes to Eontec from Netron, Inc., a Toronto-based software firm specialising in application development products and services that help Fortune 500 companies develop mission-critical business systems using a component-based approach. During his 17 years with Netron, Staniewski held a number of positions including chief operating officer, vice president of sales and marketing, and most recently, president. This wide variety of posts reflects Staniewski's adept experience in all aspects of running a successful business from developing strategic alliances to new account generation and helping customers adapt to new trends in the IT market.

“North America has become an increasingly important market for the company, and with the recent addition of CIBC to the Eontec client list, Toronto has become the focal point for customer support in Canada,” said Staniewski. “What differentiates Eontec from its competitors is its unique ‘buy and build’ approach combined with our EJB banking components, methodology and tools which enables financial institutions to rollout new products, services and delivery channels faster and more efficiently, improving customer satisfaction and increasing revenue. I am confident that Canadian financial institutions are ready to adopt this innovative approach to financial technology.”
