ONE builds on Compaq prepaid wireless solution to provide new services for Austrian customers Thursday 14 February 2002 PDF Print IN Prepay from Compaq and partner ICL Invia enables TAKE ONE customers to re-charge phone cards over the air, anytime, anywhere ZURICH, Feb. 11, 2002 - Compaq Computer in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) announced today that ONE (Connect Austria GmbH), one of Austria's leading wireless providers, is leveraging powerful technology jointly developed by Compaq and partner ICL Invia to deliver a new level of convenience for its TAKE ONE wireless prepaid subscribers. As an example, ONE is the first wireless operator in Austria to offer customers the ability to re-charge their prepaid wireless phone cards, anytime and anywhere. With a bank account and a debit card, any TAKE ONE customer can use "Quickload" to buy prepaid airtime "over the air" within seconds. This convenient feature, and others such as voice mail, short message service (SMS), data services, and personalised tariff plans, combined with fast connection speeds, enhanced reliability and real-time billing, give TAKE ONE customers in Austria unmatched prepaid services. ONE's TAKE ONE is based on a powerful, flexible prepaid wireless solution called Compaq IN Prepay. Developed jointly by Compaq and ICL Invia, IN Prepay is an off-switch IN (Intelligent Network) solution that is deployed in operator networks around the world serving approximately 10 million subscribers. It is a complete, turnkey solution for service providers who want to operate their own prepaid service. It includes modules for business management, voucher management, customer care, and call detail and service detail record storage. Christian Czech, CCO of ONE, said, "Although ONE has been focusing on contract customers from the beginning, we always wanted to offer a wide range of prepaid solutions. With IN Prepay, we've been able to scale up smoothly, while still keeping all our subscribers happy with innovative features and responsive customer care service. We look forward to continued cooperation with Compaq and ICL Invia." Jenny Newton, vice president, Telecommunications, Compaq Computer EMEA said, "IN Prepay is rapidly emerging as the premier prepaid solution. It allows operators around the world, like ONE in Austria, to focus on what they really need to do to achieve success: Keep their customers satisfied." Newton added, "ICL Invia has been an important part of IN Prepay's success, and we'll continue to work together to develop innovations for the prepay market." As prime contractor, Compaq Austria managed the implementation of IN Prepay into ONE's network, and is handling ongoing 7x24 maintenance, along with Compaq Global Services and ICL Invia. IN Prepay is based on Compaq platforms, including the NonStopTM HimalayaTM and AlphaServerTM Tru64TM UNIX servers. IN Prepay provides flexibility for operators to tailor services for customers The solution, which runs on a single platform, is extremely flexible and can scale up to support more than eight million subscribers with real-time billing performance and network response times of 200 milliseconds or less. In addition, for future enhancement, the solution provides for data billing, external media event billing, and next generation open interfaces for advanced 2.5G and 3G billing requirements, as well as CAMEL II and CAMEL III signaling and billing support. Some of the enhanced billing features provided with IN Prepay include: Real-time Short Message Service Mobile Originated (SMS MO) billing by subscriber and differential SMS billing by destination address, ability for subscribers to "pick" their own off-peak rate plan after successful recharge, and a highly configurable marketing service creation environment for real-time voice billing. In addition, the solution provides many APIs and open interfaces for integration with next generation media billing requirements and Internet access to accounts and transaction history. # # # About ICL Invia: ICL Invia is a Nordic service provider and operator of modern IT systems.
