Elsevier Science is proud to announce the appointment of Dr Eugene Schultz, PhD, CISSP as Editor-in-Chief of its leading computer security journal, Computers and Security.

Fiona Watson, Publisher of Computers and Security commented: “I am delighted to announce Dr Schultz’s appointment. His expertise in both industry and academia will help drive the journal, already at the forefront of information security news and research, forward to meet the needs of the information security community at large.”

Dr Schultz is a Principle Engineer at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and also teaches computer science at the University of California. In addition to writing 4 books, he has authored over 90 papers and is a leading researcher in the field of information security.

Dr Schultz was recognized in 1986 when he was awarded the NASA Technical Innovation Award, as well as in 1998 when he received the Information Systems Security Association Professional Contribution award.

While at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, he was the founder and original project leader of the US Department of Energy’s Computer Incident Advisory Capability (CIAC) and also a co-founder of FIRST, the Forum for Incident Response and Security Teams. He has provided expert testimony before committees within the US Senate and House of Representatives on various security-related issues and has served as an expert witness in numerous legal cases.
