Today, SNMP is the most commonly used method by which machines on a network can be monitored and/or remotely managed. Although initially designed as a network management protocol for the TCP stack, SNMP can now manage devices on virtually any network type.
SNMP support will enable C3’s customers to monitor activities running on the Apcentia platform more efficiently, as well as monitor a host of other business devices operating within the same network environment. Key areas that can be monitored using SNMP include: hard drives, memory, CPUs, blades (i.e. fax, voice processing, speech recognition resource cards etc.), number of calls in/out, duration of calls in/out and total calls in/out.
Features of C3’s new SNMP support include the ability to:
* Identify problems on the platform or on attached devices within seconds of them occurring
* Foresee and prevent issues that may adversely affect data storage, system thru-put, external connectivity, disk drives etc.
* Set alarms relating to network problems or system faults
* Generate real time statistics covering all aspects of call information including: call duration, calls in/out, errors, percentage of utilisation etc.
The C3 SNMP module constantly monitors over 128 different system statistics which are accessible via the network management system.
SNMP is applicable to small and large system installations and can be purchased as an upgrade to an existing C3 system. It is also beneficial to clients who co-locate equipment as SNMP outputs can be integrated with supplier or outsource network management systems.
