Eutelsat S.A. today announced that its Supervisory Board has decided to initiate the process of an Initial Public Offering, which may occur before the end of this year, subject to market conditions. The IPO would contribute to supporting the continued growth of Eutelsat that ranks as one of the world’s leading satellite operators for broadcast, telecommunications and Internet-related services.
Eutelsat S.A. sees multiple opportunities for profitable growth and rapid entry into new markets in an industry sector marked by increasing consolidation. In addition to continuing its path of geographic expansion, notably into North and South America and the Indian sub-continent, the company is pursuing a strategy of service expansion beyond its core European TV broadcasting market into broadband services.

Notes to Editors

Eutelsat was transformed in July 2, 2001 into a limited liability company under the french law from an international Organization. Within the framework of the approval process for this transformation that was required from the European Commission, Eutelsat notified the Commission in 2000 that it would carry out a public offering of 30 per cent of shares within two years of the date of privatisation.
