Open MMS Solution To Run On Bouygues Telecom's GPRS Network
Bouygues Telecom has selected the Multimedia Messaging Service Center (MMSC) of Comverse, a unit of Comverse Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: CMVT), and the world's leading supplier of software and systems enabling network-based multimedia enhanced communications services. This open and standardised platform allows multimedia messages to be exchanged between mobile telephones, personal assistants, PCs and interactive televisions. The customer will thus be able to create, send and receive a wide range of messages, incorporating sound, photographs and video clips.
"This platform is quickly operational and represents the first step towards the mobile multimedia services of tomorrow," says Yves Goblet, Deputy CEO Strategy and Development at Bouygues Telecom. "We have adopted an approach that is particularly open to third-party content and applications. The choice of the Comverse platform will thus contribute to the successful launch of added-value MMS services for our customers."
"We are pleased that Bouygues Telecom has chosen our MMS solution," said Zeev Bregman, Chief Executive Officer of Comverse. "We believe that to ensure substantial usage of MMS, it is critical to offer both global and localised multimedia content and applications. We are currently negotiating partnership agreements with leading content providers and application developers, enabling our customers to provide a richer MMS user experience."
