University of Paisley launches web-based staff portal Tuesday 5 March 2002 PDF Print Staff portal launched to help streamline staff resources, e-procurement and administration The University of Paisley has announced the launch of a new staff portal designed to be a central entry point for both internal resources and external services. Built using Mediapps’ Net.Portal application, the service is currently being rolled out to the University’s 1300 staff to enhance and facilitate communications, e-procurement and access to the existing intranet. The new portal will dramatically reduce the time users spend searching for information currently stored across the university network and within multiple applications and databases. Net.Portal also allows access rights to be set on a group basis, allowing tailored information sources such as research funding, course administration and other links to be controlled across defined user groups. Generic services, such as email, contact directories and university news are made available, and personalisable, to all. As the portal develops, a secure e-procurement service will be fully integrated.
