Reading, England - Adax, Industry leader in high performance wide area communications and signaling infrastructure, has announced it will offer its advanced signaling solutions in a portable, integrated, cPCI-based chassis– the Development Acceleration System (DAS). The DAS will facilitate a fast development process and time to market for customers to build a convergence solution that provides a simple migration path from circuit switched to packet switched and 3G wireless networks.

DAS is a field-tested boxed solution consisting of a Pentium III CPU, Hard Disk, twin fast Ethernet connections, and up to 5 Adax cPCI Protocol Controller cards and Adax Protocol Software. DAS is a highly flexible product and can be configured either as a Front End or a Back End Processor (FEP/BEP). As a FEP, the inclusion of an Adax HDC controller(s) provides a powerful narrowband SS7 and IP signaling solution, while the use of an ATM controller(s) provides the broadband counterpart.

With both the HDC and the ATM controller cards, customers can build a convergence solution that handles PSTN, IP and 3G Wireless networks simultaneously. The ingenuity of such a solution lies in its Simplicity – any combination of 2 boards and 6 software modules in a fully integrated and ready to plug-and-play box. This solution can migrate OEMs and Integrators through 2.xG to 3G Wireless. Adax' signaling solutions also protect customers’ investment in network infrastructure through software scalability and the use of distributed APIs.

OEMs and Integrators can deploy DAS in different configurations: A single DAS can be used as a BEP, or as a FEP wired to the customer’s existing BEP; Multiple DAS units can be deployed as FEPs and BEPs for fault tolerant systems.

"DAS offers customers a simple, elegant solution that is flexible and future-proof," said Robin Kent, Director of European operations at Adax. "As a convergence signaling development solution, it represents simplicity at its utmost."

The DAS completes the Adax Signaling3 initiative announced in February 2002. The Adax set of hardware and software modules accommodates for the 3 networks, 3 signaling protocols and 3 interfaces necessary for customers to tackle the challenges in today’s telecommunications environment. The product set is available as 3 ready to field solutions – integrated cards and software; integrated protocol stacks; and now integrated boxed solutions.
