Consolidation of Storage Pools on Auspex Appliances Lowers TCO
London, March 7, 2002 - Auspex Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: ASPX), a leading
provider of enterprise storage solutions, today announced that it has become
a charter member of the Citrix Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: CTXS) Citrix Business
Alliance(tm) (CBA). As a CBA member, Auspex will work with Citrix to ensure
compatibility of its NS3000 series of Network Attached Storage (NAS) network
servers with Citrix's server-based computing environment.
Use of Auspex NS3000 servers for data consolidation can simplify the
infrastructure and therefore cut the administrative costs associated with a
Citrix implementation. UNIX® and Windows® data and applications, database
files, current and archived e-mail, Web pages and other content can be
merged onto one or more Auspex servers, eliminating the need to manage
dedicated storage pools for each form of content.
In addition, Auspex's industry-exclusive parallel processing architecture
can improve data delivery speeds to end users, and the company's "one-world"
security model provides fast, secure file sharing between UNIX and Windows
clients without the need to duplicate data and without the risk of file loss
"Auspex and Citrix clearly share the same objectives of centralising
management and lowering TCO," said Garry Elliott, UK Country Manager for
Auspex Systems. "Joining the Citrix Business Alliance gives us an
opportunity to demonstrate the way Auspex network servers can enhance the
advantages of Citrix's server-based computing, and it also provides a means
of compatibility testing that will give our customers the assurance of
interoperability in a Citrix environment."
"Server consolidation can reduce the complexity of a Citrix installation,
which is why Network Attached Storage is such a good fit for Citrix
customers," said Sean Fane, Managing Director of InterQuad Systems Ltd., a
Citrix distributor in the UK. "Auspex's long experience in the NAS arena
gives Citrix users a solid platform on which to build their storage
"The addition of Auspex to the CBA strengthens our strategy of offering
customers the widest possible array of technologies that support a
server-based computing environment," said Garry Olah, Director, Worldwide
channel/partner management, development and partner events for Citrix. "By
working together, we can meet customer demands for new ways to reduce TCO
through centralised management."
