- Comprehensive plug-and-play security appliance, incorporating virus protection for ‘always on’ connections on show at CeBIT 2002, Hannover, 13th – 20th March. Exhibition Hall 6, Booth G12 -

Hannover, Germany, 13th March 2002. Trend Micro (NASDAQ: TMIC), a worldwide leader in network antivirus and Internet content security is pleased to announce that it is exhibiting its new GateLock solution at CeBIT 2002. Visitors to the stand will be able to view Trend Micro’s all-in-one security appliance for broadband connections: one of the first of its kind.

The GateLock appliance is Windows, Mac and Linux compliant. Placed between the ADSL connection and the User’s PC, it protects broadband connections against intruders and malicious code with its integrated firewall and automatically updated virus protection. It provides records of virus detection and hacker attack incidents, including number of attempts, time, date and IP address of intruder. GateLock also offers a series of features to make home-user broadband Internet access a safe and enjoyable experience for all the family. It allows Internet access sharing, as well as providing protection against improper web sites by allowing configuration to drop or reject connection requests to specific Internet destinations.

Raimund Genes, President of European Operations said, “We’re delighted to be able to demonstrate this state-of-the art product at this year’s CeBIT, which, once again, demonstrates Trend Micro’s innovative nature. Broadband usage, already increasing rapidly, is set to become the standard of the future. Whilst there are several advantages to this, the downside is that the ‘always-on’ nature of the technology makes users very vulnerable to virus and hacker attacks. With its GateLock solution, Trend Micro is ready to defend users’ systems now.”
