- Adaptive Addressing Custom Indexing V3 now out-performs
conventional indexes by up to 100 times* -

13 March 2002 -- Bath, UK -- CopperEye, developer and supplier of a revolutionary new data indexing technology (Adaptive Addressing) that significantly enhances database performance, today announced that a new release of its Custom Indexing solution. The release - Version 3 (V3) - will offer major performance and operational improvements as well as market-leading functionality. According to CopperEye, the improvements with Version 3 will provide its customers with increased availability of information at unprecedented speeds.

Duncan Pauly, Chief Technical Officer and founder of CopperEye, said: "our latest Customer Indexing solution is five times faster than Version 2.3. But what is really important for customers and the industry to understand is that this is up to 100 times faster than conventional indexes on inserting data with concurrent query scans at over 500,000 records per second per disk. The bottom line is, quite simply, that this increases operation efficiency and competitiveness for businesses."

The performance and functionality improvements that Version 3 brings includes the ability to achieve an average of over 10,000 record inserts per second per disk for small to very large indexes, as well as achieve an average query scan rate of over 500,000 records per second per disk. It also includes unlimited transaction sizes without any undue performance impact. Version 3 has significantly reduced resource requirements, as very large indexes require less than 1Mbyte of memory.

According to Duncan Pauly: "The extra functionality with V3 of Adaptive Addressing technology takes us into new realms in the marketplace, with technical excellence that no other provider can offer. It delivers such a positive impact to our clients' business it will gives them the ability to achieve real competitive edge."

Among the new technical capabilities for Adaptive Addressing Custom Indexing is the ability to pattern match and token-based queries, support temporal (previous point-in-time) queries and variable length keys and properties. The solution also provides index versioning so an index can support multiple historic versions as well as provide both logical and physical partitioning to any depth. Added to this, sort and merge classes are provided for query ordering and index join functionality.

There are many points on which we excel technically and operationally, "said Duncan Pauly, "those customers and channel partners who have seen the new functionality and increased performance are impressed with the potential benefits."
