Dateline March 13, 2002 Dallas, London – Today Bynari Inc. announced its growth into the mid-range enterprise space with the additional of InsightServer 3.0 for the iSeries eServer platform. The build for the iSeries platform matches feature for feature those found in the large zSeries space.

“Bynari follows Linux demand when it comes to IBM eServers,” says Tom Adelstein, CEO of Bynari Inc. “While zSeries and s/390 shops have led the Linux adoption process, we’re also seeing a recent surge in iSeries demand.”

Bynari’s software architects and executives have a strong background in the iSeries computer. Says Adelstein, “I grew up with the System34 and watched it grow into the AS/400 line so have some other people around here. The proliferation of this platform may surprise many people. I think it has the largest install base of any computer in the mid-range enterprise market.”

Bynari also offers InsightServer for the Intel Platform, especially the xSeries line. In an announcement yesterday, Bynari announced a free messaging and collaboration server available from its download site for Intel Linux.

"People think of us as the enterprise software firm in the glass house," says Adelstein. "Most of our biggest opportunities arose because someone bought an Intel version of the server to just test our product. So, we're making that environment available for free.

“People unfamiliar with IMAP servers, Linux, Free Software, etc. don't know how to setup a test environment. Now, they can download a free server suite to test or use as they wish. We want to make finding an alternative to Exchange as easy as possible."

Bynari also provides enterprise customers with pilot testing of its products. In the past, zSeries and S/390 customers could request a pilot and get one. Now, Bynari extends this offer to iSeries customers as well.

“I think people want what GNU/Linux offers,” says Adelstein. “Enterprise customers seem to always have a Linux guy somewhere. They use to fear for their jobs when they lived in NT shops. Today, things have changed. People take Linux for real. In the IT shops we see, the Linux guys have the edge. That’s a big change.”
