Out-of-the-Box Integration Enables Retailers to Use Handheld Devices in Their Physical Stores for Multi-Channel Gift Registry, Clienteling and Self Service


BRACKNELL, UK (March 19, 2002) - Blue Martini Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLUE) today announced that it has extended its partnership with Symbol Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: SBL) to enable retailers to deliver personalised marketing, sales and service via mobile wireless devices. Through an extended agreement, Symbol is now a Premier Partner of Blue Martini Software. As part of the new agreement, the companies will deliver out-of-the-box integration between Blue Martini Retail and the Symbol PPT 2800 Series handheld computers, SPT 1800 Series pen-notepad computers and the CS 2000 consumer memory scanner, which will enable retailers to leverage handheld devices for multi-channel gift registry, clienteling and self-service.


Blue Martini Retail applies the power of e-commerce personalisation beyond websites to enable direct interactions in retail stores via mobile wireless devices, point of sale (POS) devices, signature capture devices, and self-service kiosks. Blue Martini Retail allows retailers to collect data from all channels, segment and score their customers with integrated analytics, and present real-time, content-rich offers and information that are compelling to each shopper.


Symbol delivers innovative, high-performance products, including laser bar code scanners, hand-held computers and wireless communications networks for voice and data. Associates can use a Symbol mobile device to manage client lists, send event reminders or birthday greetings, record preferences and sizes, and view suggested cross-sells and up-sells. Blue Martini Multi-Channel Gift Registry application is a wish list that is synchronised between the store, website and call centre in real-time. Integration with Symbol mobile devices allows shoppers to scan-in desired items, viewing relevant information and cross-sells as they go through the store.
