Rhodia, one of the world's leading specialty chemical companies, has outsourced its two AS/400s to midrange and desktop specialist, Digica, in a one-year contract worth £80,000. Digica will provide operations and technical support for the AS/400’s which will be housed in their purpose-built datacentre in Nottingham.

Rhodia develops high value-added products, solutions and services in the areas of automotive, health care, fragrance, apparel, electronics, personal care and environmental protection. Its five Divisions command front-ranking positions worldwide, and approximately two-thirds of the Group's sales are generated on products boasting 1st, 2nd or 3rd positions on their global markets.

Digica already has existing outsourcing contracts with Rhodia ChiRex, a subsidiary of Rhodia Group, providing support for AS/400s, NT servers and their desktop environment both in the UK and US.

Keith Archer, IT Manager at Rhodia commented, “We chose Digica after undertaking a detailed evaluation process which made comparisons between leading Facilities Management companies on price, quality and the ability to meet Rhodia’s specific requirements. Potential future connectivity synergies were also a factor when deciding on Digica.”
