Cambridge, UK. C3, Europe’s leading supplier of Windows-based converged communications platforms for call handling and e-business, announces today it has received a ‘Commendation’ at February’s SMS2002 Awards for its ‘Status Messaging’ service.
Status Messaging enables organisations to report on the activities of personnel working at remote locations, on the road or away from base. The product was developed by C3 in collaboration with BT Cellnet.
The SMS2002 mobile marketing event took place at Olympia, London 12 – 14 February 2002 and was organised by New Media Age, Penton Media and the Mobile Data Association (MDA). The Awards were presented by Mike Short, Chairman of the MDA; David Lock, Director of the MDA; Jon Silk, Editor of the m-CommerceWorld portal; and Mike Grenville, CEO 160 Characters.org
“Status Messaging is a high value service that can be implemented by organisations with a minimum of new capital investment simply by leveraging existing investments in cellular infrastructure and handsets” said John Wood, Sales and Marketing Manager, C3.
About Status Messaging
Status Messaging has a use in virtually every business which employs remote workers or people working away from base including: utility companies, fleet management companies, local government, health authorities and filed service operations. These employees are able to report their current status to an office-based Controller by dialling a short code on their BT Cellnet GSM mobile handsets and sending messages to a C3 communications system.
If workers fail to report back within a specified period, SMS messages can be sent automatically by the system warning them that an alarm is about to be raised - unless they respond with an update to say everything is OK.
AWG (formerly known as Anglian Water) is one company that has already adopted this innovative new application.
Status Messaging can be used in conjunction with C3’s automated Emergency Response software - a solution that enables companies to assemble major incident teams quickly and with the minimum of fuss in response to emergency situations.
