CECOM Acquisition Centre to Use Moai Solution to Source Wide Range of Products

London, April 4th, 2002 - Moai Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of technology-enabled sourcing solutions, today announced the signing of a one-year agreement with the U.S. Army’s Communications Electronics Command (CECOM) Acquisition Centre, with locations in Arizona, New Jersey and Virginia.

CECOM’s goal is to acquire quality equipment in the shortest time possible while obtaining the best value with public funds. CECOM will be utilising Moai’s CompleteSourceTM 4.1 e-sourcing solution, which enables users to easily monitor and control the sourcing process across their entire organisation and enables buyers to have an impact on negotiations throughout the online procurement process.

In need of a more robust tool, CECOM selected Moai because of its ability to customise and scale its software tools, according to the U.S. Army’s needs. CECOM will use CompleteSource’s multi-line and weighted scoring functionality and customisable parameters to acquire a wide range of products from computer supplies to livestock.

Stephen A. Lascelles, CECOM ACQ, Procurement Analyst, has been impressed with Moai’s capabilities thus far. “The sourcing software we had been using wasn’t giving us the kind of customisation and ease of use that Moai’s solution now provides,” Lascelles said. “We need a dynamic, real-time process that delivers for us a more effective bidding procedure. With Moai’s sourcing solution, we now realise significant time and cost savings that are vital to our operations, and our vendors like the opportunity to make multiple bids.”

“Moai’s solutions are unique within the industry because they truly optimise and enhance an organisation’s sourcing process,” said Ramesh Mehta, President and CEO of Moai Technologies. “Using Moai’s custom solutions, our customers are able to bring their sourcing function in-house, streamlining supplier relationships, reducing material costs, identifying opportunities for value creation, and better converting costs to profits.”

Moai Technologies products and services are being provided to CECOM by Solution Engineering Corporation (SEC), the prime GSA schedule (GS-35F-4824G) contractor at CECOM, Fort Monmouth, N.J. SEC assists federal agencies in analyzing and reviewing their internal acquisition needs and recommends the optimum solution.

“Moai’s personalised business approach and outstanding products provide one of the highest returns on
investments realised in the bracket today, and we are proud to be associated with Moai’s people and products,” said Mikel J. Frazee, Vice President of Sales, SEC.

As the approved GSA schedule contractor, SEC gives any government agency the ability to purchase and implement Moai solutions to help enhance and increase their e-sourcing and procurement capabilities.
