London, April 9, 2002 - Clarent Corporation (OTC: CLRN
<>), a leading provider of softswitch
solutions for next generation networks, continues to be a global leader in
supporting revenue-generating VoIP networks, according to an annual survey
published by iLocus, "Global IP Telephony Market 2002," published in
February 2002.

Based on a survey of 100 IP telephony companies, iLocus finds that Clarent
and Cisco remained the undisputed leaders in international VoIP traffic in
2001. The survey indicates that Clarent solutions handled an average of 740
million international VoIP minutes per month, reflecting 27.3 per cent of
the market and second only to Cisco (33.4%) during this period. The next
closest vendor handled just 14.1% of traffic.

According to the annually published report, international toll by-pass
continues to be a strong and growing market for VoIP. International calls
account for a majority of VoIP service and represented 68% of VoIP revenues
in 2001. International VoIP traffic more than doubled over the past year
and rose to 2.7 billion minutes a month in 2001 from 1.3 billion in 2000.
In this market space, Clarent solutions are amongst the most widely
deployed worldwide. The iLocus report identifies Clarent as one of the top
three vendors handling commercial voice traffic based on revenue generating
carrier ports.
