Rhodia ChiRex, a leading company in the field of pharmaceutical active ingredient outsourcing, has awarded a five-year infrastructure management contract valued at over £550,000 to IT outsourcing specialist, Digica.

Digica will be providing 6 servers which will be housed in their purpose-built data centre in Branchburg, New Jersey. They will also provide firewall and network security and Internet bandwidth to manage Rhodia Chirex’s “Project Central” initiative.

“Project Central” will allow up to 400 project managers to track and update project plans and scheduled tasks through applications and databases residing on the servers via the Internet. Subsequent phases of Project Central include plans to upgrade the infrastructure to accommodate 1,000 users in the near future, with potential future expansion to 5,000.

“Implementing Project Central will provide us with a global view of all projects, where everyone is able to access their project information in real-time through an electronically centralised storage of all project related documents”, commented Chris Rucker, director of global IT with Rhodia-Chirex, “We found Digica provides a very cost effective and secure environment to enable us to take advantage of this company initiative”.
