Industry’s Market Leading USB Authentication Token to Provide Improved Authorisation Services to Web-Enabled Applications
Rainbow eSecurity, a Rainbow Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq: RNBO) company and a leading solutions provider of digital content and transaction security, and Entrust, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU), a leading global provider of Internet security solutions and services, today announced that the iKey 2000 USB authentication token is in the process of being tested as one of the industry’s first security tokens to support the new Entrust TruePass software. It is planned that users will be able to leverage the integration of iKey 2000 and Entrust TruePass software for stronger user identification, two-factor authentication, verification and easier installation and deployment functionality.
The integration of the iKey 2000 with Entrust TruePass software is designed to both improve security for an end user’s digital identity and help provide an easier and more effective way to secure access to business-critical Web-enabled applications.
“We are looking forward to the completion of the testing of the iKey 2000 USB authentication token,” said David M. Lynch, vice president of marketing, Rainbow eSecurity. “Large enterprise environments can benefit from this solution’s improved installation and deployment capabilities that helps to remove the complexity normally associated with deploying strong Web security technology. We look forward to working on additional integration opportunities with Entrust for our growing Web security product family.”
“Working with Rainbow can help open new doors for enhanced security solutions designed for both government and commercial enterprises,” said Ian Curry vice president, product management and strategy, Entrust. “Entrust TruePass 6.0 software is a core element of our Secure Web Portal Solution, which enables organisations to securely conduct valuable and sensitive online transactions with customers, citizens, suppliers, partners and employees through strong identification, an auditable transaction record and industry-leading data protection and privacy capabilities.”
According to IDC’s report, “Hardware and Biometrics Authentication, Part 2: the Fall Software Sequel,” Rainbow was the world’s leading provider of USB authentication tokens in 2000. IDC reports that Rainbow’s worldwide share of the USB authentication token market accounted for 35 percent of the market in 2000. Rainbow expects to maintain their lead as sales of iKey nearly doubled in 2001. According to IDC forecasts, the USB token market could reach 6.6 million by 2005. Rainbow’s iKey is the industry’s leading family of USB-based Web authentication tokens and is available in two products series – the iKey 1000 series for Windows 2000 environments and the iKey 2000 series for PKI and high assurance environments.
