* Award in International Trade category recognises sales growth of 377% over three years

* Adds to recent award of ‘European Fast 500’ company by Deloitte & Touche

London – April 22nd, 2002 – Intec Telecom Systems, a world leader in Operations Support Systems (OSS) software for telecom companies, has today been granted a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category. The Award, granted by the Queen on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, recognises international sales growth of 377% over three years (1999-2001). In that period Intec grew sales of its OSS software products, including its market-leading InterconnecT technology, from £7 million to £34 million, winning customers such as Vodafone, Orange, France Telecom and Telecom Italia in the process. Intec was also recognised earlier in April by Deloitte & Touche as a ‘European Fast 500 company.’

“Intec has competed with outstanding success against some of the telecoms industry’s largest companies since it was founded in 1997, taking almost 40% market share in our key business area of interconnect billing,” said Intec’s Executive Chairman, Mike Frayne. “This Award recognises the talent and dedication of staff in the UK and many other countries, and I am proud of the whole organisation.”

Intec Telecom Systems, which has more than 250 customers for its products worldwide, was founded in 1997, and listed on the London Stock Exchange (Code: ITL.L) in June 2000. Intec has rapidly become the most successful supplier of packaged intercarrier billing and a world leader in convergent mediation software, with more installations, and more major telecom operators using its solutions than any other supplier.

Intec’s international customer base includes, among others, AT&T, Axtel (Mexico), BellSouth, BellSouth Peru, Brazil Telecom, Cable & Wireless, Cesky Telecom (Czech Republic), COLT Telecommunications, EBT (Taiwan), France Telecom, Hutchison 3G, ITXC, Maroc Telecom, Singtel Optus (Australia), Orange, Telecom Argentina, Telecom Egypt, Telecom Italia, TPSA (Poland), Stentor (Canada), Swisscom, T-Mobile International (Germany), Telia (Sweden), Telkom South Africa, Telstra (Australia), US Cellular, Westel (Hungary) and Verizon.

“This Award will help to raise our profile internationally in the year of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee,” added Kevin Adams, Intec’s Chief Executive Officer. “Despite the widely-reported difficulties in the telecoms marketplace, there is still demand for products which bring real business benefits, and I’d like to add my thanks to our many customers around the world who have selected Intec for critical software systems and are now enjoying the benefits of using them.”
