EGHAM, UK, April 22, 2002 - Hyperion (Nasdaq: HYSL), a global leader in
business performance management, unveiled its Business Performance
Management Suite, a comprehensive solution for measuring performance and
driving profitability across the enterprise.

Hyperion made the announcement today at its Solutions 2002 user
conference, Orlando, Florida, believed to be the largest single gathering
of business performance management users and experts in the world.

"Today's business environment demands corporate accountability," said
Nazhin Zarghamee, chief marketing officer at Hyperion. "This requires a
level of business visibility that can only be achieved if companies
maintain a true sense of the financial impact of their business
activities. Business performance management bridges financial performance
and business activity performance."

Hyperion's Business Performance Management Suite is designed to help
companies manage through extraordinary complexity by enabling managers to
continually measure performance, anticipate results and drive
profitability across key business activities. Hyperion's Business
Performance Management Suite is based on an integrating platform, Hyperion
Essbase XTD, that combines management process with powerful business
applications to allow companies to set goals, plan targets and measure,
predict and report results in a collaborative way across an extended
enterprise. This comprehensive solution gives companies up-to-date
insight, as well as foresight, into their business to successfully manage
in demanding business and economic environments.

"Answerthink is helping companies use the Hyperion Business Performance
Management Suite to model, plan and, in effect, look into the future
through methodologies, metrics, processes and systems that monitor and
manage business performance across the enterprise," said Tom Hoblitzell,
managing director of business intelligence at Answerthink. "The solutions
we build with Hyperion make it possible for companies across verticals to
get aligned around critical business objectives and to anticipate
cultural, organizational and technological conditions so that
collaborative practices can flourish."

The Hyperion Business Performance Management Suite

Hyperion's Business Performance Management Suite is a set of packaged
applications, performance management frameworks and an integrating, open
business intelligence platform. It includes families of products that
address core business needs of the modern extended enterprise:

- Financial Performance Management extends core business performance
management across the entire spectrum of financial activities, including
budgeting, financial and business planning, cash management, consolidated
reporting and quarterly financial performance reporting. Financial
Performance Management is now available.

- Organizational Performance Management enables managers to direct
and coordinate organizational performance across core business activities
and across all functions inside and outside extended enterprises.
Examples include the definition of goals and performance metrics,
headcount planning, compensation planning and management, budget
management and evaluation of forecasted and actual performance measures.
Organizational Performance Management is now available.

- Customer Relationship Performance Management extends core business
performance management across all customer acquisition and retention
activities, such as customer segmentation, marketing activity planning,
call center planning and performance reporting. It will be based on a
technology framework, which when implemented with partners, will provide
visibility into customer profitability, lifetime customer value, customer
behavior and product profitability. Customer Relationship Performance
Management is scheduled for availability in late 2002.

- Supply Chain Performance Management enables managers to drive
performance across supply chain activities such as procurement,
manufacturing and inventory planning. It will be based on a technology
framework, which when implemented with partners, will provide visibility
into supplier performance, product quality and profitability, as well as
manufacturing productivity and profitability. Supply Chain Performance
Management is scheduled for availability in late 2002.

- Channel Performance Management enables alignment and drives the
optimal performance of the channel, through activities such as sales
target setting, sales plan management, territory planning and indirect
channel planning. It will be based on a technology framework, which when
implemented with partners, will provide visibility into channel
profitability, geographic performance, product profitability by channel or
geography and sales representative performance. Channel Performance
Management availability is scheduled for availability late in 2002.

What's New

With its Business Performance Management Suite, Hyperion is delivering
software solutions that go beyond conventional business analysis or
business intelligence tools deployed in the finance department and that
optimize the business management process across the entire enterprise.

"The addition of collaboration, modeling and scorecarding to a suite that
includes our best-of-breed financial analysis, reporting and consolidation
software is new and compelling. For the first time, a single software
company is delivering software solutions that empower all levels of an
enterprise to collaborate in setting goals and monitoring results of key
business activities - financial and operational - in order to predict
change and execute a response," said Zarghamee.

Hyperion's offerings for Customer Relationship Performance Management,
Supply Chain Performance Management and Channel Performance Management
will be optimized for quick deployment in concert with partners. They
will be based on a framework that includes business rules, key performance
indicators and domain knowledge provided by Hyperion partners as well as
integration with operational data sources.

Only From Hyperion

Zarghamee said that Hyperion is the only company offering an integrated
suite combining the business performance management process into a
seamless collaborative cycle that enables all business functions to engage
across an extended enterprise.

"Financial performance management is at the core of business performance
management. But we go beyond our best-of-breed financial applications to
integrate best practices and processes into our Business Performance
Management Suite. The result is that companies are able to realize a
continuous and accurate financial picture of their business based on
near-real-time information," said Zarghamee.

"The power of business performance management is in extending that
visibility to all operating units and in every corner of a company. With
Hyperion's Business Performance Management Suite, every application has
access to the same underlying information. So, rather than waiting days -
or even months - to get an outdated snapshot of business, customers will
get up-to-date information, served up continuously, so they can
proactively anticipate the next move."

Management families of applications leverage functionality found in
