Ipswitch’s Whatsup Gold Now A Featured Element Of Ciscoworks Small Network Management Solution 1.0

April 30, 2002 – Ipswitch, Inc., a leading supplier of award-winning Internet productivity software, today announced the expansion of its OEM agreement with Cisco Systems. Under the new agreement, Ipswitch’s WhatsUp Gold provides network mapping, monitoring and notification functionality for CiscoWorks Small Network Management Solution (SNMS) version 1.0.

WhatsUp Gold brings standards-based monitoring to CiscoWorks SNMS. CiscoWorks SNMS is a cost-effective, Web-based network management solution for Cisco-based small to medium-sized business networks and workgroups. WhatsUp Gold allows Cisco customers to view real-time status of all their Cisco devices in addition to hosts, servers and workstations in order to maximize network productivity. WhatsUp Gold also provides Cisco customers the comprehensive tools needed to maximize the performance of their hardware investments and ensure continuous network uptime.

Ipswitch’s technology partnership with Cisco began in 1999 when WhatsUp Gold was bundled into CiscoWorks for Windows 5.0. CiscoWorks for Windows continues to provide a cost-effective solution for the small customer who requires basic SNMP management and monitoring capability without the need for more advanced lifecycle management provided by the CiscoWorks SNMS product. Designed to benefit the small-to-midsize business environment and workgroups within large enterprises, WhatsUp Gold is a low-cost, high-performance tool with the ability to map and monitor devices, services and critical applications in a matter of minutes, offering network management essentials without complexity.

“WhatsUp Gold identifies network problems before they impact business operations,” said Roger C. Greene, president and founder of Ipswitch. “Our relationship with Cisco has evolved based on our ability to deliver value to customers through reducing downtime and avoiding lost revenue, leading to very fast return on investment.”
