Industry’s Market Share Leading USB Authentication Token Honored for Seventh Time in Past Two Years by Leading Security Industry Trade Journal

Rainbow eSecurity, a Rainbow Technologies, Inc., (Nasdaq: RNBO) company, today announced that its iKey USB authentication token was singled out for an “Editor’s Special” Award at the 2002 Secure Computing Reader Trust and Academy Awards in London last Month. In addition to the “Editor’s Special” Award, the iKey received a “highly commended” designation for “Best Encryption Solution” and was a finalist for “Best Network Security Solution” awards, respectively.

The “Editor’s Special” Award is a new category designed to highlight the endeavors of companies, products and services, which in the view of senior editors of SC Magazine are worthy of special note. This brand new award was launched for the first time in 2002.

“We are very pleased that SC Magazine has honored the iKey with a new special recognition award which mirrors the worldwide leadership position our USB token continues to hold,” said David M. Lynch, vice president of marketing, Rainbow eSecurity. “The iKey continues to be our fastest growing product with major deployments underway in North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific Rim. The iKey fills a critical need for organisations to secure access to business-critical data and applications on the Web and this SC Magazine “Editor’s Special” Award reflects the status iKey continues to achieve in the market.”

According to IDC’s report, “Hardware and Biometrics Authentication, Part 2: the Fall Software Sequel,” Rainbow was the world’s leading provider of USB authentication tokens in 2000. IDC reports that Rainbow’s worldwide share of the USB authentication token market accounted for 35 percent of the market in 2000. Rainbow expects to improve on this lead as sales of iKey nearly doubled in 2001. According to IDC forecasts, the USB token market could reach 6.6 million by 2005. Rainbow’s iKey is the industry’s leading family of USB-based Web authentication tokens, and is available in two products series’ – the iKey 1000 for Windows 2000 environments and the iKey 2000 for PKI and high assurance environments.
