Solutions Used In Almost 70 Percent Of All North American Broadband Service Activations In First Quarter
May 7, 2002 – BroadJump, Inc., the leader in broadband software, today announced that the company’s software solutions have enabled broadband service providers to activate high-speed access for more than four million residential broadband subscribers. In the first quarter of 2002, BroadJump was responsible for activating 69 percent of all new high-speed Internet connections in North America, giving BroadJump the largest market penetration of any broadband software company. In terms of cost avoidance through the elimination of onsite service and the implementation of a self-installation model, the company estimates it has collectively saved its customers hundreds of millions of dollars.
Today, service providers that use BroadJump’s software represent 70 percent of all North American residential broadband subscribers. Through the use of BroadJump’s solutions, its customers have been able to address several challenges in the ‘last mile’, from reducing costly onsite service and enabling self-installation models, to automated support and ISP migration. BroadJump ChannelDirect, the most recent solution built on BroadJump’s technology, is being used by service providers to begin offering revenue-generating content, applications and services to subscribers.
”There’s no question that BroadJump continues to be a major player in reducing the cost and complexity of rolling out broadband services to consumers,” said Larry Goldman of analyst firm RHK, Inc. ”Service providers need to offer new services to those broadband consumers, but we are in a different world now; investors won’t wait for future profits. Given the number of service providers already using BroadJump’s solutions, the company is in an enviable position to help service providers master the challenge of delivering these value-added services as well as the profitability investors demand.”
At its current rate, BroadJump is helping service providers worldwide activate high-speed data service for more than 20 thousand new broadband subscribers every day. BroadJump’s customer list includes such market leaders as Adelphia Communications, AT&T Broadband, Bell Canada, BellSouth Corporation, Charter Communications, Cox Communications, NTL, Road Runner, SBC Communications, Sprint and Time Warner Cable.
“BroadJump’s technology has had tremendous bottom line-impact for our customers,” said Kenny Van Zant, BroadJump's chief operating officer. “Recent market challenges reinforce the need for providers to have flexible infrastructure in place as they seek to solve more complicated problems beyond the fulfillment of high-speed access. We look forward to continuing our success in enabling business models that include multiple ISP selection, self-activation and the delivery of content, applications and services.”
BroadJump’s customers have realised substantial returns on investment and cost avoidance from deploying BroadJump solutions, including increased subscriber activation rates, reduction in support calls and increased self-installation rates. For example, since deploying BroadJump’s solutions, Time Warner Cable’s New York City affiliate has increased the number of installations daily by more than 1,400 percent and has experienced 25 – 30 percent fewer post-installation support calls to customer service.
In a market that industry analysts predict will reach 84 million broadband subscribers by 2005, BroadJump continues to expand internationally and grow its market share worldwide. With BroadJump’s software infrastructure, service providers can automatically fulfill of a variety of services, from high-speed access to revenue-generating content quickly and inexpensively.
