9 May 2002 (DS0129) ~ Developer Solutions, the application development
specialist, is now shipping DB2 Motion 2.5 from HiT Software which includes
support for real-time SQL Server-to-iSeries and AS/400 replication. This new
feature complements the basic DB2Motion functionality of replicating IBM
iSeries and AS/400 application data to Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle
application environments. With the increasing deployment of SQL
Server-based solutions within enterprises, replicating and transforming data
between these platforms and central iSeries servers becomes important.
Extending DB2Motion's existing iSeries-to-SQL Server replication support, IT
managers now have a single tool for bi-directional data replication with
unmatched replication and transformation control. Licenses start from £1495
and more information can be found at http://www.developer-solutions.co.uk/DB2

IT teams deploying web or client-server applications based on SQL Server are
finding that background data replication to iSeries servers offers enhanced
real-time application performance. For many applications, replication
enables better performance compared to in-process, real-time iSeries
queries. Likewise, replication from iSeries servers to SQL Server also
minimizes real-time impact on iSeries application performance.

DB2Motion offers a graphical administration interface, VBScript support for
a fine degree of data replication and transformation control, and a Windows
service engine with log support. By generating events within the Windows
server environment in response to replication activity, users can check
external process conditions or data prior to data delivery. DB2Motion
includes standard functions to perform lookups, access SQL recordsets, and
evaluate the replication log. Using standard VBScript along with
user-defined functions, users have unmatched control at the record level of
replication. Even with its new bi-directional support, DB2Motion remains
easy to use and minimally intrusive for the OS/400 environment. It requires
no programming on the source or on the destination database server.

"iSeries users require a fine degree of bi-directional data delivery with
SQL Server", said Ray Kemp, Technical Director at HiT Software.
"Organizations need more than data transformation and delivery, they need
tools that allow them to apply custom business rules quickly and easily to
build intelligent data delivery processes. With this new release of
DB2Motion, HiT Software offers an important tool to increase productivity."

DB2Motion v2.5 can be installed on Windows XP, 2000, and NT servers and
supports OS/400 V3R1 and later as well as SQL Server 2000 and version 7.0.

Licensing is available starting at 95 per server. DB2Motion 2.5 will be
available in May 2002, and trial versions will be downloadable from the HiT
Software web site, http://www.hitsw.com .
