WebCensus Tops Desktop Systems Management Solution Category Based on its
Ability to Inventory PCs Instantly and Accurately over the Web

May 10, 2002 - Tally Systems today announced that its web-based PC
inventory service, WebCensus (, has been named a
winner by Network Computing for a 2002 Well-Connected Award in the
category of Desktop Systems Management. WebCensus was chosen for its
innovative ability to gather crucial management data for saving money
and managing PC desktops by offering instant, accurate inventories over
the Web without the burden of installation, maintenance, or dedicated IT

"This award acknowledges Tally Systems' commitment to innovation as a
trusted provider of value to our customers for over 12 years," said John
Mahon, Vice President EMEA at Tally Systems. "The rapid return on
investment our customers see with WebCensus is central to our philosophy
of providing real solutions for enterprises to save money, improve
efficiency, and avoid the pitfalls of continuing chaos on their desktop
systems. At a time when organizations are looking to maximize the value
of their IT investments, WebCensus delivers high value at a low cost
with minimal overhead. We are very proud to have received this honour
and recognition from the editors of Network Computing."

Mahon continues, "There has been a great deal of interest in WebCensus
from the channel as a whole. We expect this interest to grow as
WebCensus gives service providers a high quality, low cost, project
oriented audit capability, which they can easily offer alongside their
existing services. We have flexibility in the business model in that
the service provider can choose to host WebCensus themselves or use
Tally Systems as the host. They service providers can literally access
WebCensus remotely over the Internet, whenever they need to and from
wherever they may be."

Tally Systems WebCensus delivers a fast, accurate hardware and software
audit with a unique web-based service that requires no installation or
management, and uses Tally Systems patented Census Recognition
Technology(tm) at its core. As a hosted service, WebCensus removes the
burden of installing software and maintaining additional infrastructure
required by other complex management tools. The data returned from
WebCensus is crucial to managing software licenses, avoiding audits by
the BSA, planning for changes in Microsoft licensing, and managing
hardware and software migrations.

"The Well-Connected Awards are given to products, technologies and
services that have withstood testing by our editors over an enterprise
and in real world environments - they have proven to be essential to
meeting business initiatives," said Fritz Nelson, Publisher of Network
Computing. According to Nelson, "When a product receives a
