Volantis Systems Ltd, the leading provider of multi-channel software solutions, today announced that it has been short-listed in the Technical Achievement category of The Webby Awards - the Internet's equivalent of the Oscars.

Reflecting a year that saw the Web play an increasingly vital role in everyday life, websites and Internet technology leaders as disparate as The Vatican, the Peace Corps and the U.S. Army are amongst the 140 nominees named today by The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences® for the 6th Annual Webby Awards. The awards are determined by the Academy, a diverse, 350-person organization whose membership includes Francis Ford Coppola, David Bowie, Matt Groening, Rob Glaser and Julia Child.

Volantis provides organisations with solutions to ensure that digital content, such as a website, is displayed consistently no matter what device is being used to view it; whether it be a PDA, mobile handset or even iTV for example.

Commenting on the nomination, Terry Davies, CEO Volantis, said: "The Webby Awards recognise companies who have pushed the boundaries of Internet development. We are delighted to be nominated and look forward to representing the pioneering spirit of UK development as one of only a handful of UK-based nominees."

Encompassing the incredible diversity of the Web, the Academy unveiled the nominees for the Best Web Sites and Services in 30 categories, including Activism, Technical Achievement, Finance, NetArt, Community, Film, Travel, Personal Web Sites, Sports, Spirituality, and Weird.
