LONDON, 23.05.02: Europe's leading web-based learning and communications developer, LINE Communications, has been awarded the contract to develop an interactive training and learning solution to accompany the roll out of the latest within Mobile IP technology. The 4-hour learning module will be used during the rapid deployment of the technology, developed by Norwegian technology innovator Birdstep Technology, enabling technical engineers to be certified and trained in the solution prior to implementation and deployment.
Birdstep's Intelligent Mobile IP Client technology revolutionises the mobile and remote working experience by allowing secure, seamless and hassle free handover between networks such as GSM/GPRS, Wireless LAN (802.11) or Ethernet. It will provide secure access to corporate infrastructures from anywhere and at any time to existing LAN (Local Area Network) with complete security, and without the requirement for capital investment in new infrastructure. Cisco Systems, Hewlett Packard Norway, PWC Consulting and the Norwegian operator Telenor Mobile have adopted the technology to service their clients.
LINE was selected as a result of its reputation for developing compelling learning solutions, which simplify complex technical and conceptual data, and its ability to complete the solution within an eight-week period. The company's ability to understand and apply new technology within the learning space is also central to the success of the project - the Birdstep solution involves the integration of a Learning Content Management System (LCMS) and Learning Management System (LMS).
The completed e-learning module will also be delivered globally via both the Internet and Intranet for Birdstep's global customers and partners. LINE has developed the learning material using re-usable learning objects - one of the first major e-learning solutions to do so - to enable the content to be re-purposed and redeveloped quickly and easily to add new language versions, or to develop it for Pocket PC, or 3G platforms.
Working with Birdstep is the latest in a string of high-profile clients for LINE. In recent months, the company has developed learning content for the likes of BTCELLNET (now mm02), VOLVO, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the University for Industry (UFI) tackling all aspects of training, from Induction training, just-in-time Industry guides, and network quality testing.
LINE Chairman Ian Philion says, 'We are delighted to have been selected by Birdstep for what is a pioneering project for many reasons. Birdstep's Mobile IP technology will revolutionise the effectiveness and efficiency of mobile & remote working, and with LINE's custom developed learning content, we are helping the company to significantly reduce time to market.'
'Birdstep has an unbeatable global technology. They cannot possibly train all their partners, prospects and customers via conventional means. With so many innovative elements to the project - applying reusable learning objects, incorporating a LCMS into the solution, and working to an 8 week deadline, LINE's experience and adaptability will ensure a compelling outcome. I am confident that LINE's solution will play an essential part in the successful rapid deployment of the Birdstep solution, and in the implementation of the technology for many years.'
"Developing a scalable and global methodology for supporting our resellers and partners in deploying our technology is of vital importance to our company. We selected LINE simply because of their impressive customer list and their ability to convey our message in a simple and easy to understand way", says Terje Andersen, CEO Birdstep Technology.
