London Friday 24th May 02 – MTV UK & Ireland, owned by Viacom International Inc. (NYSE: VIA, VIA.B), today launches an innovative microsite for the hotly anticipated MTV show ‘The Osbournes’. The Osbournes’ microsite promises to wow, amaze and offend internet users just as much as the TV show will itself.
A fly-on-the wall series featuring Ozzy Osbourne and his eccentric family, ‘The Osbournes’ is the highest rating show on MTV US ever. The series premieres on UK television exclusively on MTV from Sunday 26th May at 10pm.
The Osbournes' microsite- http://www.mtv.co.uk/theosbournes - will feature a virtual tour of the Osbournes' home, with all four family members, the nanny and pets represented as interactive animated characters. The characters swear, fight and scare the neighbours - just like in the show itself. The site will launch with access to the Osbournes' virtual living room/kitchen, with the characters interacting with the room and each other.
Throughout the series’ ten week run further rooms will be rolled out with increased character interactivity.

By clicking on certain objects in the house, users can launch key site content
Clicking on the television launches video clips
By clicking on the laptop users can sign up for the newsletter
The messages pinned to the fridge will launch the message boards
Future content includes photo galleries, diaries from the family members and their domestic staff, message boards and screen-savers. The Osbournes' microsite has been created by specialmoves and the MTVi in-house team using Macromedia Shockwave.

‘Swear Box’ competition
‘The Osbournes' swear box’ - viewers text MTV their estimates of how many times Ozzy and family swear each episode. MTV will then text them back with ‘higher’ or ‘lower’ pointers, before entering them into a prize draw for a family trip to LA.

The website is sponsored by Golden Wonder’s Nik-Naks, and the crisps themselves make random surprise appearances within the virtual house.
