New Royal Mail Tested and Approved Sortcode Ensures Continued Postage Savings
Capscan, the supplier of UK and international address and data management systems, today announced the release of a new and updated version of Sortcode, following the Royal Mails’s recent changes to its Mailsort service. Sortcode rearranges the address files into the correct sort sequence for the Royal Mail’s Mailsort, Presstream and Walksort services. This provides companies with discounted postal rates and reduced administration and delivery times.
The recent changes to the Mailsort programme will have a direct impact on all Sortcode users. One major change to be introduced is a restructuring of the way in which the Postcode Statistics are calculated and presented on the Computer Planning Report. Another major change is the introduction of the new Walksort database. With the previous calculation methods set to become obsolete, Capscan has developed a new updated version of Sortcode in line with these changes. This new version of Sortcode is available now to all Capscan customers.
Capscan's new Sortcode has successfully passed the latest stringent Royal Mail tests for the Mailsort, Presstream and Walksort services. The new tests are required by the Royal Mail as a result of recent changes to the Mailsort and Walksort programmes, and the arrival of the new Walksort database. Sortcode is now certified to process mailings for Mailsort 1400, Mailsort 700 (a.k.a. CBC), Presstream and Walksort.
Terry Hiles, Managing Director of Capscan, explains, “Sortcode is the perfect tool for achieving the maximum savings from the Mailsort and Walksort programmes. Not only does it realise the discounts offered by the Royal Mail’s Mailsort programmes but it can also lead to additional savings in the computer automation and personnel costs.”
Sortcode does all the hard work in preparation for a mail out by rearranging the address file, in a customer or prospect database, in to the correct sort sequence required by the Royal Mail for its Mailsort, Presstream and Walksort services and resulting in a discounted postal rate.
Sortcode has an easy-to-use Windows interface that enables a Selection Code to be attached to an address in accordance with Mailsort and Walksort schemes. Sortcode is highly flexible and can accept fixed and variable length records and address files of unlimited length. The program is also available as a Unix API.
