Unique Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) leverages service-oriented architecture to deliver extensible, flexible supply chain integration

Progress subsidiary, Sonic Software, today announced that NxTrend Technology has selected SonicXQ™ to provide the standards-based integration used by its bizLink Commerce Connect, supply chain integration solution. The SonicXQ Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) provides NxTrend customers with a unique, configurable, service-oriented architecture that provides scalable integration between applications and services in distributed environments.

SonicXQ helps users to more easily integrate supply-chain applications with suppliers and customers using open standards, such as web services, JMS and the J2EE™ Connector Architecture (JCA), eliminating the need for integration brokers or hard-coded connections. With SonicXQ’s distributed processing, common integration services, such as transformation and routing, can be executed at any node of the bus, avoiding the scaling bottlenecks common with centralised integration engines.

“SonicXQ is the first product to market with the most flexible and cost effective model for deploying
supply-chain integration based on the vision of the ESB: a standards-based service-oriented architecture,” said Danny Goodall, marketing director Sonic Products at Progress EMEA. “The ESB architecture allows organisations to move toward real-time information sharing across their enterprise and between trading partners.”

NxTrend bizLink Commerce Connect is a Progress®-based supply chain integration solution that enables back-end ERP systems to participate in a trading community by performing B2B transactions. bizLink Commerce Connect supports multiple transport protocols, including JMS, SMTP, FTP, HTTP and TELNET. SonicXQ extends this connectivity to include support for web services and JCA endpoints.
