San Jose, CA / London - June 11, 2002 - Aicent and Cable & Wireless today announced that they have interconnected their GPRS Roaming Exchange (GRX) networks. This peering agreement has successfully enabled their respective mobile operator customers, Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited and UK-based mmO2 to extend their GPRS roaming capabilities, allowing subscribers travelling between Hong Kong and the UK to continue to access GPRS services.

Critical to the success of GPRS services, GRX enables mobile data roaming services for travelling mobile users outside their home networks. Both Aicent and Cable & Wireless are among the world's largest GRX providers. Peering between Aicent and Cable & Wireless allows more than 30 mobile operators across Asia and Europe to establish roaming agreements between their networks, just as Hutchison Telecom and mmO2 have done.

"Connecting our European operator customers with Asia Pacific operators is yet another significant milestone in the development of Cable & Wireless' GRX offering, especially given the close ties and amount of travel between the UK and Hong Kong," says Andrew McGrath, president, Service Providers, Cable & Wireless. "We are committed both to adding new operators directly to our GRX and peering with other leading GRX providers, such as Aicent, so that we can offer operators maximum global coverage for their GPRS roaming services."

"It is exciting that GPRS operators have started taking advantage of the benefits provided by GRX services and our collaborative peering efforts with Cable & Wireless," said Lynn Liu, President and CEO of Aicent. "As the number of GPRS operator roaming agreements proliferate, Aicent is committed to delivering even greater value through GRX-enabled innovative technologies and services to our operator customers."
