Clarent enables BRAIN TRUST to fill missing link for international carriers
between volume and hard-to-reach markets

London, 17 June 2002 - Clarent® Corporation (OTC: CLRN), a leading provider
of softswitch solutions for next generation networks, today announced an
agreement with BRAIN TRUST to deliver its Voice over IP solutions. BRAIN
TRUST, a German-owned international, independent carrier is deploying
Clarent VoIP solutions from their Central London site, to provide
international operators; such as Deutsche Telekom, Singtel, and NTT, with
attractive, cost-effective VoIP telephony to reach the 'white spots' within
the geographic international telecommunications network.

BRAIN TRUST collects International IP telephony minutes at their central
London headquarters for distribution of voice traffic to locations in South
East Europe, the Middle East, the Asian Pacific region and America. The
solution deployed consists of a Clarent Command Centre, to handle the
routing, call management and billing; the Clarent Application Server which
handles the operation, administration, maintenance and provisioning, plus
Clarent's Next Generation VoIP Gateways, to transmit data, voice and fax
traffic over the network. According to Frost & Sullivan the European VoIP
gateway market is dominated by a handful of providers. Clarent occupies
second place behind Cisco Systems.

Dr. Hans Netix, Chief Operating Officer of BRAIN TRUST Asia Pacific,
commented as follows: "The market demand for the cost-effective termination
of voice telephony is steadily increasing and even exceeds our own planned
capacities. We chose Clarent as our VoIP provider because of the company's
excellent reputation in the industry and the promise of short delivery and
installation times. We were particularly impressed by the flexibility and
scalability of the solution and the quality of the Network Operation Centre
services is what convinced us to select Clarent as a partner."

"BRAIN TRUST are linked with many of the world's leading telecommunications
providers and classified as a first tier carrier. Winning this deal is a
testament to the high quality and scalability of the Clarent solutions and
confirms our status in the upper echelons of the telecommunications market,"
explains Denis Murphy, Vice President EMEA for Clarent.

The first BRAIN TRUST sites to serve the Middle East became operational in
December 2001 Additional locations in South East Europe, the Middle East,
Asia and America are planned for the first quarter of 2002 reinforcing BRAIN
