Solution Enables Evaluation of Bids and Suppliers Across Multiple Offerings and Products

London, June 20, 2002 – Moai Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of technology-enabled sourcing solutions, today announced the release of CompleteSourceTM 4.5, an intelligent new tool in sourcing management. CompleteSource 4.5 allows executives to link individual offerings into project groups and set specific parameters for evaluating suppliers across all offerings.

“We understand that buyers are looking not only for the best price, but also the best overall value from their suppliers,” said Bill Kaigler, Moai’s vice president of product management. “CompleteSource 4.5 has been designed to help buyers identify suppliers that best meet their needs and to allow them to manage those relationships across individual offerings, as well as larger sourcing projects.”

Moai Technologies CEO Ramesh Mehta notes that this release is the second major product update since the Moai/Medebiz merger and is a testimony to the increased productivity and innovation of the new Moai. “CompleteSource 4.5 is an example of the improved value Moai offers its customers,” said Mehta. “We now have the ability to update our software more often, utilizing customer input to create the most complete e-sourcing solution on the market today.”

Specific features and functionality of CompleteSource 4.5 include:

* Total Landed Cost (TLC) Calculators

With this functionality, the user can establish built-in formulas to calculate the total landed cost of a given supplier, based upon the bid price and monetary buyer parameters. These formulas may take into account any duties, fees, taxes, tariffs and other charges that may be involved in trade between the two businesses. Each offering may be associated with a different adapter or mathematical formula, producing different evaluation criteria on the same site.

“The final cost of working with a supplier involves far more than just a purchase price of a good or service, particularly when companies source globally,” said Kaigler. “With CompleteSource 4.5, our customers will be able to see the ‘real’ cost, which may be far different from what the bid itself indicates.”

* Threaded Sourcing Projects
This functionality allows buyers to streamline the sourcing management process by grouping individual offerings together as a project. Appropriate information can then be shared between individual offerings and can be used as a framework for developing future offerings following the desired sourcing process for the organization.

* Buyer Parameters
This feature allows the buyer to enter values that will be used to determine which supplier is preferable for a particular offering. Buyers can favour one supplier over another based upon whatever parameters are of importance to them, such as price, switching costs, past performance, product quality and delivery times.

* Reporting and Analysis Tools
New database tables and views have been added to assist in developing reports and conducting “what-if” analyses, using industry-standard reporting tools.

As with previous releases of the Moai solution, CompleteSource 4.5 is fully scalable and offers its users the level of control they desire — at a fraction of the cost of other solutions. Moai’s customers have the flexibility to use CompleteSource 4.5 as part of a hosted solution or as a software solution that can be customized and integrated with other applications within the supply chain infrastructure.

Moai’s hosted program allows customers to completely outsource e-sourcing requirements and take advantage of Moai’s domain expertise. Events are hosted for a flat fee, rather than a percentage of savings — a figure that can often be staggering.

CompleteSource 4.5 was developed with the recommendations and needs of Moai’s customers in mind. Currently, Moai is collaborating with its customers and partners to develop a fully integrated version of the company’s product suite that will include tools for contract management and spend analysis, which will be available later this year.

To date, Moai’s customers have realized savings of more than billion dollars with the company’s strategic e-sourcing solutions.
